Matterport™ or Cinematic Video
My good friend Beth recently sold her oceanfront home. We swim together for exercise several times a week. Her Realtor, Holly Hight at Island Equity Real Estate, hired me to handle the photos, video, and a Matterport tour. Beth got to see me working with all the different cameras and later saw how Holly used the final products to help sell the house.
Beth absolutely loved the Matterport. She later reached out, thinking it would be a great tool for the local school—for fundraising, recruitment, and showing progress on their new building.
Choosing Video
I was all for it. After chatting with her a bit, I learned they wanted something long lasting, with flexibility for custom branding and color customization. They also needed it to be simple to use, and there were a few areas in the school they preferred not to include.
Real estate videos work best for large, bright homes with great outdoor spaces. They are fully customizable, like a short commercial for the property. We can highlight the most captivating features, shoot around anything unappealing, and cut, splice, or even reverse clips. We can film day or night and add music or voiceover.
Considering Matterport
Matterport is a fantastic tool when used properly. It’s customizable within a set of specific parameters and puts the viewer in control of the experience. They can navigate at their own pace, explore in their own order, and even measure walls and openings. We can tag appliances or fixtures with pop-up specs.
While Matterport is best suited for indoor use, it can sometimes handle outdoor areas if the lighting is right. Today’s project was a Matterport scan of a recently sold home to help the interior designer start planning. But that’s a story for another day. Stay tuned.
