In Anticipation of Halloween: A Frankenstein Creation of My Own
Last week, we shot 215 Jerome Avenue in Islamorada for Keith Allen at Century 21 Island Life TheRealKeys.com. Keith always wants the full package, but this time, the home was unfurnished, and the real selling point was its location—right near the Islamorada Arts and Cultural District.
No, the Caboose doesn’t come with the house. Here’s a funny side story actually lived on that street when the Caboose was delivered. It was quite the spectacle. One night in March 2013, the whole neighborhood paused whatever they were doing to witness what looked like the second coming of Henry Flagler, clickety clacking right down Jerome Avenue. One neighbor honestly thought he was hallucinating. Here’s a photo from the next day, when they were transferring it from the truck to the short track behind this very home.
We shot photos, a Matterport 3D scan, and aerial video that day. Since I had a little extra time, I wandered through the Arts District and grabbed some ground-level video to use for this and future projects. Back at the office, I kicked myself for not filming the interior. Then I realized Matterport might have just what I needed to round out the property video with interior motion shots—and it did. Here’s the finished video:
Perfect for Dark Homes with a View
Balancing interior and exterior light is always tricky with video. I can’t stand blown-out or faked-out window views. For homes with dark interiors or ceilings, using Matterport to generate interior video is a great way to create a cinematic presentation that showcases both the inside and outside—without breaking the bank.

This hybrid approach might deserve its own package soon. We just received a new 3D marketing kit, which I’ll use to become a Zillow Certified Photographer.
