Beachwood Condos - Islamorada, FL
Working in the Florida Keys, it’s not often that I get to shoot a large property that I did not know to exist. Turns out there is an oceanfront condo seemingly without a name on Lower Matecumbe, in Islamorada. Ten whole condo units that I had driven past at least 1,000 times, but never noticed. With no sign or visible name on the highway, I turned to the internet to seek out a name for this newly discovered (to me) condo and found that it is called Beachwood. They look small from the outside, but are actually 3BD/2BA units, all with views of the Atlantic Ocean.

The Rooftop Cafe
I had the opportunity to shoot a commercial property in Key West last week. The Rooftop Cafe. It was a bit sad for me because it had been my Mom’s favorite restaurant and we would always make it a stop when we were in Key West for Cuban Mix Sandwiches. The fans are not spinning because the power was off. Talk about a hot shoot…Key West in August in a closed building with the power off. To quote Cosmo Kramer, "It was like a sauna in there!"

Zion Primitive Baptist Church
Erected by former slaves in 1867, the Zion Primitive Baptist Church was rebuilt in 1911. The African American congregation closed its doors in the 1970’s and the current owner converted it to a single-family home in 1983. Elementary architectural features attest to its ecclesiastical origins. The corner steeple, double-door entrance, and pointed-arch windows reflect its Carpenter Gothic style.
